SINGAPORE ASSOCIATION FOR COUNSELLING
40 Years of Caring for the Nation, Building Communities of Carers
Pioneered in 1982 by Singapore's "Father of Counselling" Mr Anthony Yeo, the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) has come a long way and is the largest and oldest professional body representing counsellors, psychotherapists, counselling educators and students in Singapore.
2022 marks SAC’s 40th Anniversary this year! Building on from the last four decades, SAC has and will continue to steadfastly adhere to its vision to advance the counselling profession – this is especially so with the acceleration in demand for counselling services in recent years. Today, SAC counts over 1200 members across the public, people and private sectors, with over 370 Registered Counsellors and 100 Registered Clinical Supervisors, and many more working towards registration.
Through the years, SAC has collaborated with various ministries, social service agencies, institutions, and other key stakeholders to support and build a healthy eco-system of mental health and social care services for the communities in Singapore. Our 40th Anniversary theme “40 Years of Caring for the Nation, Building Communities of Carers” encapsulates our continued vision as we move forward from our cumulative efforts over the past four decades.
